Ciaran’s a new man!

Local man Ciaran McGuigan lost an incredible nine stone at Slimming World and was recently voted his group’s Man of the Year.

At 25 years of age and nearly weighing as much as his age at 24.5 stones, he knew he needed to do something and did not want to get involved with faddy diets, being told what he can’t eat but rather follow a plan with great healthy foods he can eat.

Before becoming a member of his local Slimming World group in Antrim, Ciaran lived off takeaways and convenience foods, but now having discovered a new generous eating plan that allows him to enjoy his tasty favourites in a healthy way, he eats freshly prepared food.

Among his favourites are chilli and spicy potato wedges.

With the help and support of the other members in the group and seeing the amazing results from his new food plan, Ciaran also got the confidence to get a little more active to improve his health and began attending his local gym a few times a week - he even recently started a jujitsu class and he can’t believe how amazing he feels now.

He said: “I have so much energy, I’m like a new man - I can do things I never dreamed of before.”

Ciaran has been overwhelmed by the encouragement along his journey from all his fellow members and says he couldn’t have done it without their help as there were times when he struggled and needed that little bit of extra support.

He was so delighted that they voted him Man of the Year in the group.

Along with lots of support from the other members of the group, Ciaran is well on his way to reach his personally chosen target weight of 14 and a half stone.

He loves that he doesn’t have to deprive himself, as he can still have treats and generous portions of food that he really enjoys.

He’s looking forward to a healthy future now and feels he has found a way to stay slim for life.

Ciaran attends the Slimming World group held in St. Patrick’s Church, Parkhall Road, Antrim. Session times are every Tuesday 10am 5.30 and 7.30pm.
