City to mimic Munich, Vienna and Prague next month

VENDORS are being invited to submit applications for outdoor trading from Swiss-style chalets in Londonderry’s historic Guildhall Square for the city’s first ever Continental Christmas market to be held there next month.

Tony Monaghan, Senior Economic Development Officer at Derry City Council said: “We are looking for high end, word class traders to sell their product in this exclusive festive atmosphere as the Guildhall Square is set to capture the essence of Christmas spirit and in working with a variety of partners and businesses in the city.

“We are dedicated to progress positive plans to benefit the local economy and with thousands expected over the market period, there are many ways in which all local businesses can tap into this potential.

Derry City Council in partnership with VSC Events are looking for unique and specialist traders to be a part of this winter wonderland experience in the heart of the city, where they will have the opportunity to sell direct to the public in a truly festive setting.

Mr Monaghan continued: “The Christmas markets will serve as a countdown to New Years Eve and the much anticipated run up to the events of the inaugural 2013 City of Culture.

“We are delighted to bring this here so there will be no need to visit the likes of Munich, Vienna or Prague, now all citizens and visitors alike can get to experience this magical festival event right here in the heart of the city.”

Opportunities for additional vendors to trade at this event are still open. For further information visit www.vscevents.ie or contact [email protected] Tel: 00353 1 64322 302.
