Climactic end to Ballyclare Male Choir’s 79th session

The 79th session of the Ballyclare Male Choir will draw to a close with two significant events with the highlight being the annual concert.

The concert will take place in the Spires Centre at the Assembly Buildings of the Presbyterian Church in Belfast on Friday, May 3 at 7.30pm.

Also joining the choir on the programme will be Bangor Ladies Choir and the Quick Silver Flute Ensemble.

This will be the first opportunity for the choir to perform the new additions to the concert repertoire, perfected over the last few months under the leadership of conductor, Paul Briggs and accompanist, Sheelagh Greer.

Sheelagh will also step away from the keyboard and entertain the audience with her own singing talents.

Paul is also the conductor of the Bangor Ladies Choir and there will be an opportunity for both choirs to come together for special joint performances.

Since being appointed in October 2012 Paul and Sheelagh have brought a new dynamic to the choir and this has been demonstrated and acknowledged by the performances at recent engagements.

As well as his choral musical skills Paul is also a technical guru and has used his considerable digital engineering knowledge to enhance the learning process for all sections of the choir.

Tickets for the concert are £15 and are available from choir members or from David Hewett on 9084 1153 or by sending a stamped addressed envelope to 2 Downhill Avenue, Newtownabbey. BT36 6TU.

The final choir singing experience will be a short visit to Tenby Pembrokeshire from May 16 to 19.

The weekend will be hosted by the local Tenby Male Voice Choir and one of the highlights of the trip will be a short concert in St David’s Cathedral.
