Competition was Action Packed!

Fairhead Photographic Club recently held its annual club print of the Year Competition and as a perfect finale to an action packed year, the winning shot was a superb jet ski action shot captured by club member, Keith Elgin, Coleraine. One of the club’s younger members,

Connor Clarke, came a very close runner up with his dramatic shot of the tram track at Runkerry.

Guest speaker for the evening was Shona McCarthy, Director of the Culture Club, the organisation which has been set up to co ordinate Derry City of Culture 2013.

After presenting Keith with the Fairhead Photographic Club Perpetual Shield, Shona gave a very interesting presentation on her career path to date, right up to her current exciting position.

She outlined some of the challenges which lie ahead, but given the enthusiasm and energy that she exudes, those listening to her were left in no doubt that she will be up to any challenge.

Before winding down for the summer break, the club is currently preparing for the Annual Exhibition on Friday and Saturday.

Once again this will take place in Holy Trinity Church, The Diamond, Ballycastle. The Exhibition is open from 10am to 6pm daily and admission is free. This is the fifth Annual Exhibition staged by the club, and members look forward to welcoming the usual large number of visitors.

The committee is currently working hard, setting in place the programme for 2011/2012.
