Conor’s original music in this new adaptation will help transport audiences to a colourful and spectacular land where Mowgli the man-cub is learning the laws of the jungle aided by his loyal friends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther.

The spectacular family play opens on Saturday, July 23 and runs until August 14.

Conor has written 13 music-plays, has twice been writer on attachment to the National Theatre, music adviser to YMT:UK and writer in residence at LAMDA.

He is currently writing NI Opera’s first opera commission in celebration of the 2012 Olympics as well as a new children’s piece for Cahoots and the Mac, The Incredible Book Eating Boy.

For the Lyric’s new adaptation of the Jungle Book, a jungle complete with vines, a river and trees has covered the Northern Bank Stage of the Lyric Theatre as the venue prepares for its first family show.

The Jungle Book is directed by the Lyric’s Artistic Director Richard Croxford, who also directed The Beauty Queen of Leenane, The Wizard of Oz, The Snow Queen and Charlotte’s Web for the theatre to critical acclaim.

He has assembled a multi-talented cast including Pete Ashmore, Tony Hasnath, Gerard McCabe, Sioned Saunders, Charlotte McCurry and Karen Rush. Charlotte recently appeared in the new Lyric’s opening production of The Crucible to critical acclaim, while Karen’s last Lyric appearance was as Glinda in The Wizard of Oz.
