Council plan a fun-tasticsummer with kids courses

PARENTS and children can now look forward to a fun packed summer with Coleraine Borough Council’s 2013 Summer Recreation Programme.

Commencing on July 1 until August 9, this year’s programme offers a wider choice than ever before with seventy five courses covering over twenty nine different activities.

Coleraine Borough Council Sports Development & Recreation Manager, Roger Downey who leads the Programme commented: “The sports courses cost £30 per person per course and will take place from 1st July until 9th August.

“Council’s Sports Development Team is committed to offering as wide a range of quality activities for young people in the Borough as possible and we believe this year’s Programme will exceed expectations.

“Council has introduced new activities and adapted some of the more traditional courses to appeal to a wider audience. Each course is designed to increase the participant’s skill level but more importantly the emphasis is on having lots of fun.”

As a special incentive to all young budding footballers and to help practice skills taught, all participants on the soccer school courses will receive a free football of their own to keep.

Enrolment commences at Coleraine Leisure Centre on Saturday, June 1 from 8:15am for all sports courses.

Roger adds: “As always, these courses are in popular demand, so get there early! All interested parties will only be permitted to enroll one family on the initial day of enrolment.”

All holders of a current Access To Leisure (ATL) card will receive a 50% reduction in all course / scheme fees. Family tickets are also available.

For those children who do not wish to be part of the sporting activities, Coleraine Borough Council’s Summer Recreation Programme will also be taking activities out to the communities as an alternative.

Ten summer schemes have been organised throughout the Borough this year and full information will be available from Coleraine Borough Council’s Leisure Services Department.
