Council waste gets ‘Appy’!

Ballymoney Council has launched a new Recycling App for their residents. Designed to make it easier to find all the recycling information you need in one place, the App, created by Bin-ovation and supported by Rethink Waste, is free to download for smart phones and tablets.

Cllr Jason Atkinson, Chair of the Health and Environmental Services Committee speaking about the App, said: “The Bin-Ovation recycling App is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland and it will provide the Council’s residents with an easy to follow A-Z list of household waste materials - explaining what can and can’t be recycled. For those residents who might forget to leave their bin out, the App can send you a reminder to ensure you don’t miss your collection. As a Council we are delighted that modern technology can help people recycle more. We hope that by using the Bin-Ovation recycling App our residents can increase their recycling from home and play their part in protecting the environment. Please download this App on to your smartphone or tablet today.”

Michael Brady, Bin-Ovation creator, explained: “We developed this App because we wanted to help people recycle more. We’re confident that once householders in Ballymoney download the App and see how useful it is, the amount they recycle will increase. The App really does contain all the information you need to help you recycle more in one easily accessible place.”
