Dallat joins last ditch protest to save Dalriada Hospital

SDLP spokesperson for regional development John Dallat has joined local protesters in Ballycastle in a last ditch attempt to save Dalriada Hospital.

The Trust is expected to make a decision on whether to close the facility on Tuesday 25th November.

Speaking from the picket line Mr Dallat said: “This community has demonstrated that this is one cut too far. They have made it unequivocally clear that while we must all bear the brunt of this financial situation they will not accept the closure of the Dalriada hospital. I am proud to stand alongside local SDLP Councillors, Donal Cunningham and Margaret Anne McKillop in support of the people of Moyle.

In reference to the presence of several dozen tractors on the scene the East Derry representative said: “I would like to congratulate the agriculture industry on their support of the crowd here today. If the Minister for Health believes he can run roughshod over people in rural communities he is mistaken. I would urge members of the Moyle community to make their voices heard like their neighbours have today and not accept these draconian measures.”
