David picks fine time to release new single

DAVID Patterson releases his new single ‘(War Takes A) Certain State of Mind’ to coincide with Remembrance Day.

He’ll also be playing two Remembrance concerts in the Waterfront Hall (November 3) and in Armagh’s Market Place Theatre (November 9) where he will have the chance to showcase the song.

In it he states ‘I support the soldiers, not the battle you will find, for war is no routine, it takes a certain state of mind’.

David said: “I wrote the song for a friend of mine who recently passed out in the army.

“The song itself shows the starkness of war and how joining the army is so much more than just another career choice.”

The 18-year-old from Lurgan has family members who fought in both the First and Second World Wars and his musical preferences are firmly rooted in post-war folk, rock and blues.

This young troubadour comes from a musical family and is defined by the songs he listened to as a child - those of Hank Williams and Buddy Holly. He cites Woody Guthrie and John Hartford as his main influences, and has provided a song for a documentary currently in the making about the life and times of Hartford.
