Dogs Trust appeal for treats and toys for homeless puppies

Dogs Trust staff have called on local people to donate toys and treats to homeless hounds.

Staff at a Ballymena based rescue centre are calling on dog loving locals to donate tinned dog food, toys and doggy treats to the centre as they currently have lots of puppies in need of chew toys, cuddly bears and a tasty titbit or two.

Dogs Trust Ballymena, one of 20 Rehoming Centres in the UK, currently cares for 52 dogs, 15 of which are puppies, and whilst staff always ensure all the homeless hounds have everything they need, cuddly toys and treats such as dog biscuits, make them feel right at home.

Rehoming Centre Manager, Oonagh Philips explains: “At Dogs Trust Ballymena we always make sure all of our lovely homeless hounds have everything they need whilst they await their forever homes. The local support we receive from dog lovers is extraordinary, from dog walking to manning stalls at our summer and Christmas fairs. However in the lead up to our busiest period, we need the local support more than ever.

“We are currently full to the rafters with puppies so we are calling on locals to donate tinned food, treats and toys as they all make life at the rehoming centre much brighter for our lovely dogs. So please, do donate anything you can.”

If you can donate any tinned food, treats or toys, staff encourage you drop into the rehoming centre at Teeshan Road.
