‘Double booked’ charity concert back on track

James Frizzell is hoping to fill Ballymoney Town Hall on Wednesday September 14 in aid of the Northern Ireland Children to Lapland Trust.

But Mr Frizzell said his concert plans were set to be in ruins after it emerged that another performer had booked the Town Hall on the same night and that he was not in first.

Mr Frizzell said he faced holding his charity concert in another venue despite having spent money on printing up tickets and posters advertising Ballymoney Town Hall as the venue.

He said he spoke to Ballymoney Council about the mix-up and said there did not seem to be any chance of his concert going ahead.

But then the organiser of the other event, Tony Kerr, got in touch with him saying he saw an advert for Mr Frizzell’s concert in a Sunday newspaper.

Mr Frizzell said Tony Kerr said he would allow the charity concert to go ahead in the Town Hall instead as Mr Kerr’s event was not a ticket affair.

Overjoyed Mr Frizzell said he wished to thank Mr Kerr for his efforts and he is now offering him free admission to his concert.

The Times had not received a reply from Ballymoney Council at the time of going to press.

So Mr Frizzell’s grand charity concert will take place in Ballymoney Town Hall on September 14 at 8pm.

Artists include Alastair Coyles, Simon Peters, Kathy Kane, Lynn Irvine, Jason McGilligan, Liam McLaughlin and backing by Steve Farlow.

Guest compere will be Liam Beckett.
