Dunloy mum to host disco for epilepsy charity

A DUNLOY woman, whose son has epilepsy, has organised a disco event for charity.

Sarah Brolly is hosting the event next Saturday, October 20th, at the Bridge Bar, Dunloy.

Sarah will be raising vital funds for UK-wide charity Epilepsy Action. The charity provides advice and support to the 600,000 people with epilepsy across the UK.

The Dunloy mum is organising the event because her son Declan, 13, has recently been diagnosed with photosensitive epilepsy. This kind of epilepsy only affects around three per cent of people with epilepsy.

Sarah, 41, said: “My son Declan has just recently been diagnosed with epilepsy and he is photosensitive which is very rare. I would like to use this event to raise awareness of this kind of epilepsy as it limits many of the things Declan can do. I hope the event raises money for Epilepsy Action and shows people how much epilepsy can affect people lives.”

The event takes place from 9pm on Saturday 20 October at the Bridge Bar, Dunloy. The entry fee is £5 which people can pay at door. There will be a raffle with a variety of prizes.

All proceeds will go to Epilepsy Action. The money raised will help to support the charity’s work all over the UK. Epilepsy Action campaigns to improve epilepsy services and raise awareness of epilepsy. It also provides a national network of support groups, funds a specialist nurse scheme, holds regular regional conferences and has a freephone and email helpline.
