Entertainment as usual at the Ould Lammas Fair

BALLYCASTLE’S much loved Lammas Fair is just around the corner and is set for another year of good ol’ craic.

Ireland’s oldest traditional market fair is back for another year and is expected to lure the usual big crowds with market stalls, street entertainment, traditional music, competitions, horse trading and much more this August.

As usual the Street Entertainer’s Competition will be held on Monday 29 August between 2pm and 4pm. The competition is open to anyone with a talent for street entertainment and is welcome to enter. There are categories for both Junior (under 16) and Senior (over 16), and the first prize is £100!

The competition wishes to encourage the development of traditional street acts as seen at the Lammas Fair in days gone by. Buskers are also welcomed to perform elsewhere during the Lammas Fair at other times, as in previous years, but will only be judged for the competition within the times and places.

There is no entry fee and the area for competitors will run from the Quay Road Hall down Quay Road to the seafront and will include all areas at the seafront. Application forms can be obtained from the Development Office Moyle District Council or alternatively you can download an application from their website www.moyle-council.org.

Good luck to all who wish to compete.
