Eva and Clare to star at Choral Society

Antrim Choral Society presents ‘Springtime Melodies’ an evening of bright, uplifting and exalting song, to celebrate the arrival of spring on Tuesday, April 29, at 7.45pm in Parkhall Integrated College.

Guests for the evening include Eva Richards – cello, and Clare McEvoy - mezzo soprano.

Eva Richards is a sixth form student at Ballymena Academy. As well as being a member of the NEELB Youth Orchestra, she is a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the Ulster Youth Orchestra.

In 2013 she was the winner of the Northern Ireland Young Musician of the Year competition. She was awarded the ABRSM Philip Walsh Memorial Prize for the highest mark in Grade 8 exams for the year.

Eva plans to continue her cello studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

Clare has been described as a “vibrant musician, with and abundance of energy, passion, and commitment to singing and teaching” by the director of the Kodaly Institute in Hungary, where she was awarded their international Scholarship in 2010.

More recently she won the Mezzo soprano Solo, and Grand Opera Competitions at the Ballymena Vocal Festival.

Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased directly from choir members or at the door, and include tea or coffee and delicious homemade cakes.
