Louise, a self taught artist, was thrilled to see her work displayed at Parliament Buildings when the ‘Forces of Nature’ exhibition was held from June 21 - July 5.

The former Friends’ pupil was inspired by Armed Forces Day, which was held on June 29, and the exhibition featured wildlife from locations where the British Army is currently located.

From wildlife in Afghanistan to Kenya, where the army undertake training, to Germany and the Falklands, Louise, 31, completed a huge amount of work in recent months to be ready for the exhibition, which was sponsored by Lagan Valley MLA, Brenda Hale.

First Minister Peter Robinson and Brenda Hale, MLA, attended the launch of the Exhibition on June 24.

Louise, who is of part Falkland heritage, visited the island earlier this year for the first time to get inspiration for her exhibition.

Louise said: “I had an amazing trip to the Falklands in January and February which inspired the exhibition. I am half Falkland Islander so the visit was wonderful. I met cousins and uncles out there for the first time.

“To have my exhibition at Parliament Buildings was amazing, especially as this was my first solo exhibition. I exhibited as part of a group aspect at Castle Espie in March, but to host a solo exhibit was incredible.”

Louise, who undertakes commissions, works mostly in pencil and colour pencil, specialising in very finely detailed drawings of wildlife and pets. For further information visit www.louiseclarkeart.co.uk
