Féile’s 25th birthday bash set to rock the City

In just a month’s time, Ireland’s biggest, and most vibrant community festival not only kicks off its largest celebration ever, but hits the big ‘25’ with a packed programme of style and substance.

Féile an Phobail has been enlivening, entertaining and educating West Belfast and beyond with its rich mix of music, literature, spoken word, tours, talks, community events and street parties this past 25 years, and now, from August 1-11, the highlight of the city’s summer calender marks its landmark birthday with an array of international acts and local legends, not to mention hundreds of events right across the city.

The Happy Mondays, Faithless, Chicane, Agneli & Nelson, Patrick Kielty, Mickey Bartlett, Paddy McDonnell, The Beat, The Charlatans, Damien Dempsey, Joby Fox, Ulster Orchestra and the Priests, Grainne Holland Band, Echo Raptors, The Coronas, Walking on Cars, Cara Dillon, Sharon Shannon, Jordon O’Keefe, The Wolfe Tones, Gary Óg and Rebel Hearts, are among those very special guests joining in the Féile 25th birthday celebrations, as West Belfast prepares to throw open its doors to the world and rock, roll, laugh, listen, party and play!

As well as the headlining music and comedy acts, Féile25 will play host to a diverse range of dance (from Irish traditional to hip-hop), literature, drama, visual art, family fun, sports events, tours and walks, discussions and debates and Irish language events.

There’s a staggering total of over 250 events set to take place over eleven days, at 50 venues across West Belfast/Gaeltacht Quarter and the City Centre, including family favourites such as the annual traditional Carnival Parade (Sunday, August 4), Party in the Park, The Teddybear’s Picnic in Falls Park and a host of other events to appeal to kids big and small.
