Find the sun for less with Translink’s Airport Services

Tickets, passport, money? … swimwear, shades, flipflops? ...use Translink’s holiday checklist to help you pack! Translink have put together a helpful holiday checklist to help you make sure your holiday is first class.

To help summer sun seekers get their holiday off to a smooth start, Translink is reminding passengers that they can benefit from a range of airport services. The routes to both of Northern Ireland’s airports and from Belfast or Derry~Londonderry to Dublin Airport and Dublin City Centre provide great value and convenience while taking the hassle and expense out of driving and parking.

Insurance: Not the most exciting thing to start off with but holiday insurance is hailed as the most important thing to remember when organising a holiday. A good travel insurance policy will cover you if the company you are travelling with goes bust, if you become unwell or have an accident it could cover your expensive medical fees as well as cover you if you lose your foreign currency, your mobile phone, or if you become the victim of theft. Travel insurance plans can be inexpensive and are definitely a holiday essential.*

Passports/documentation: If you want to visit another country, then a valid passport is essential, equally as important is checking that your passport is still valid, holiday experts advise flying on a passport which is at least six months before expiry. Depending on the location and length of your stay certain countries have strict visa requirements so be sure to check these before you travel. Avoid unexpected airport costs by printing your boarding passes at home and checking in online if possible.*

Currency: Make your money go further by shopping around online for the outlets with the best exchange rates. If possible try to buy all of your foreign currency at once because the more currency you buy in one transaction the lower the exchange rate will be meaning more bang for your buck or more euros for your sterling.**

Parking: Flying from Dublin? Why not leave the car at home and take Translink’s Goldline X1/X2 coach service direct from Belfast to Dublin airport for a purse pleasing £8 one way web fare. For those travelling from the West Translink’s Goldline X4 coach service operates from Derry~Londonderry through Cookstown and Dungannon. A family ticket is available to buy online from 8th June 8 to September 21 for any of these services, offering return travel for 2 adults and up to 3 children for only £55! There are also regular bus services to Belfast International and George Best City Airports. Forgetting where you’ve parked and a camel trek around the airport car park laden with bags can quickly make your holiday a distant memory.

When buying sunscreen choose a long-lasting waterproof sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum protection from both UVA and UVB rays. When on holiday don’t forget to reapply often. To avoid any nasty trips to A&E in a foreign country be sun savvy, seek shade during peak hours of 10am-4pm. Pack the family’s week’s worth of sunscreen before you go on holiday and avoid the overpriced bottles in the airport or at your foreign destination – but don’t forget all liquids of 100mls and over need to go in the hold and not in your carry-on.***
