Fingers crossed for Can Can in People’s Millions campaign

Ballymoney charity Can are keeping their fingers crossed that they have been shortlisted for the Ulster Television People’s Millions campaig.

The People’s Millions is a partnership between UTV and the Big Lottery Fund where the public help decide which local community projects get up to £50,000 of National Lottery Funding.

CAN is a unique, fairly small (but significant) user-led charity of people with learning disabilities, based in Ballymoney.

A spokesperson said: “We are extremely proud of our organisation as it has retained all of the unique qualities from its inception.

“We work with people with learning disabilities aged 12 and over. We have several Social Enterprises including Can Can Recycling, Can Can Bazaar (our shop) Can Can Upcycle, Can Can Frames and Can Can Bubbles, our launderette.

“100% of the proceeds from our Social Enterprises go to support local people with learning disabilities.

“We will know if we have been shortlisted for UTV People’s Millions after 28th October.”
