Fleadh this weekend

THE 21st annual Tony Lavery Fleadh will take place this weekend.

The three venues for the extremely popular music event are JP’s Bar and Lounge and St Paul’s Club in Lurgan and The Corner House Bar in Derrymacash.

On Thursday night in St Paul’s Club Dr Frank Xavier McCorry will be giving a talk entitled ‘The place names of Montiaghs and their origins’ at 8pm. It will be followed by a folk session.

On Friday night the ‘Kick Start The Weekend’ session takes place in JP’s at 9.30pm, while the Corner House will be hosting a Bluegrass session at the same time. St Paul’s Club will be having a ‘Soda, Craic and Pints’ session, also at 9.30pm.

The focus of Saturday’s activities is the Corner House where the will be a ‘In Full Flight’ session at 3pm, as well as Set Dancing and Night Fever at 9pm.

On Sunday the Corner House will be hosting a Traditional Music session at 3pm and St Paul’s Club will be showing the All Ireland Final followed by music straight after the match.

The Tony Lavery Fleadh Finale sessions take place in St Paul’s from 8pm.

On Monday, for those still up for a bit of craic, the Hangover session takes place in JP’s at 3pm.

All local musicians, singers and storytellers are welcome to join in and of course those who simply want to listen and soak up the atmosphere are very welcome at each session.
