Former Abbots Cross cleric set to address Irish CE convention

A FORMER student assistant minister at Abbot’s Cross Presbyterian Church is to be the main speaker at the 98th Irish National Christian Endeavour convention this September.

Rev Gary Glasgow, who grew up in Glengormley, is now minister of Gardenmore Presbyterian Church in Larne.

Preparations for the convention, to be held on Friday, September 21 and Saturday 22 in Second Broughshane Presbyterian Church, began more than a year ago. An important part of the rally on the Saturday evening will be the installation of Mrs Gwen Carson from Ballyclare as the President of the Irish Christian Endeavour Union.

Delegates representing the East Antrim CE Union, as well as representatives from every society within the Union together with those from anywhere within this area who are personal members of CE, have been invited to attend.

The convention will include events organised for all the family from the Seniors and Comrades right down to the youngest Juniors. Young people and young adults will have their own fun and workshops while Juniors will be participating in activities organised by Coaching for Christ. Seniors and Comrades will have their event too, but everyone will come together for the evening rallies when Rev Gary Glasgow will expand on the topical theme, ‘Train, Run, Win’.
