Garryduff honour 100-year-old brother

Last Thursday the members of Garryduff ILOL No15 together with visiting brethren and friends met in Garryduff Orange hall to celebrate Garryduff Lodge member Johnny Gallaher reaching the remarkable age of 100.

The evening got under way with chairman for the evening Bro James Anderson welcoming all to the event including a special welcome for Bro Gallaher.

The chairman then introduced the members of Garryduff Flute Band who rendered a few well known tunes that got feet tapping and this was followed by a few songs from Sammy Anderson.

The first part of the evening was brought to a close by a few tunes on the concert Flute by Garryduff bandmaster Bro Ian Kennedy

Following a lovely supper served up by the ladies and a few gents Garryduff WM Bro Ian Atkinson and DM Bro Trevor Young presented Johnny with gifts from the Lodge.

Bro Alexander McFarland then brought greetings to Bro Gallaher from the Imperial Grand lodge and from Ballycastle District Lodge.

The band returned to the stage and played a few more lively tunes before the highlight of the evening, a speech by Johnny detailing his service during the second world war when he served in Africa, Iraq and Singapore as a mechanic in the Royal Air Force.
