The Geordie lads hit the famous links course, which will pay host the Irish Open at the end of this month, promising they would try “not to ruin” the venue.

“There’ll be a few divots out there,” Anthony McPartlin grinned. “Sorry about that ...”

The pair were paying a visit to the North Coast on Monday as G-Mac hosted a master class, before playing a round on the famous course which will host the Irish Open from 28 June to 01 July.

“We’ve been listening very intently to Graeme,” Declan Donnelly said.

“He talks a very good game and he showed us some great shots - but I’m not sure we’ll be able to pull off the same thing ...”

“It’s when he started talking about fading the ball and drawing the ball,” Ant chipped in. “Just hitting the ball - just tell me how to do that!

“It’s great though and they assure us the weather’s always like this here. Isn’t it?”

But with Northern Ireland basking in sunshine for now at least, the duo were more than happy to swap the ‘I’m A Celeb’ jungle for the picturesque North Coast and were “hugely excited” to be playing Royal Portrush.

And with the local golf scene boasting a host of big name golfers, including world number one Rory McIlroy, they were definitely aiming to up their game.

“Northern Ireland is like the golfing capital of the world now. We’re hoping if it’s something in the water - or maybe in the Tayto crisps - we can get a little bit of it,” Dec grinned.

Even if they just have to settle for watching the Irish Open, G-Mac himself promises everyone is going to be buzzing when the tournament comes to town.

“I know we’ve got everyone coming up to support us and we’re all very excited about what the tournament is going to do for the province, what it’s going to do for the whole country of Ireland and we’re very excited,” he said.

“They’re working hard here on the golf course and around the infrastructure and trying to get things ready ... I can’t wait.”
