Georgian Day and Light Show return to Armagh

See Armagh in all its festive glory, as the Ancient Cathedral City goes back to its Georgian roots for a unique experience that cannot be missed.

As one of the most exciting events of the Christmas calendar, Georgian Day sees the city of Armagh transformed with market stalls offering stunning gifts and food to excite the Christmas shopper seeking that special gift.

Georgian Day will be in full swing from 10am to 6pm, with a wide range of family-friendly events and a unique Christmas atmosphere for all the family to enjoy. During the day the streets will be bustling with people as festive music, horse-drawn carriage rides and the smell of mulled wine and warm mince pies exude a unique Christmassy atmosphere for all to enjoy.

A festive market with stalls from all over Northern Ireland will be packed with unique, handmade and unusual gifts whilst Georgian characters roam the city streets telling stories about the etiquette of Georgian life in the city. The public can join local school children as they perform their nativity play in a life size stable with animals and manger, bringing a truly Christmas experience to the day.

The day will end with an unmissable experience for children and adults alike as ‘Armagh Lights Up For Christmas’ with a spectacular Christmas light switch on at 5.30pm. A dramatic projection light show set to music will bring the beautiful Market House in Armagh City Centre to life as a shimmering canvas for images and special effects. Join Santa as he makes a flying visit to switch on the lights in the show’s grand finale!

There is no end to the entertainment with traditional mince pies, mulled wine, horse and carriage rides around the Mall, carol singing and much more. After the success of last year’s light projection show, we also have a new show this year with an extra special twist.”
