Grand Opera House presents new season

THE Grand Opera House provides a memorable new season with the launch of the Spring 2011 Programme.

The highlights of the new brochure includes Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat which will run for two weeks in September, and the return of last summer’s smash hit Dancing Shoes- The George Best Story, making its return in August.

The family fun is provided courtesy of the farmyard, with Shaun the Sheep’s Big Show, and adding to the entertainment is the return of Peppa Pig’s Party. Also joining the family show line up is British Comedy award winning Horrible Histories bringing the past back to life in the two magnificent 3D shows Rotten Romans and Awful Egyptians.

Scottish Opera’s intelligent, theatrical opera Rigoletto shines alongside Northern Ballet’s visually captivating Cleopatra in a season which exudes style and elegance. The classical arts line up is completed by English Touring Opera who will perform the Roald Dahl classic Fantastic Mr Fox, Puccini’s Il tabarro/ Gianni Schicchi and Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito.

Commenting on the impressive programme Chief Executive Michael Ockwell, said: “We are delighted to be hosting some really big name productions at the Grand Opera House in 2011. Adding to the already strong season of The Blues Brothers, The Buddy Holly Story and Avenue Q as well as Monty Python’s Spamalot, I am delighted to announce the return of the Michael Jackson inspired musical extravaganza Thriller in September and announce west-end smash hit Grease in February 2012.
