Grow for it!

CARRICK’S allotmenteers could soon have another incentive for taking pride in their plots.

The 2011 SuperValu Best Kept Awards now include a special category to acknowledge councils that encourage communities to grow their own produce by providing top class facilities, as well as the tenants who showcase the best plot.

Doreen Muskett MBE, President of Northern Ireland Amenity Council, which organises the annual challenge, commented; “We’d like to hear from towns, villages, housing areas, healthcare facilities and schools in the Carrickfergus area that have entered the awards in the past, but we’d also like to see some new entrants taking up the Best Kept challenge for the first time and we’d particularly like to receive submissions to the Best Kept Allotment section of the awards.”

Entry forms are available from NIAC on 9040 3681 or visit www.niacbestkept.com for more information.
