Gruig Wind Farm WalkLoughguile - Thursday 11 August 2011

Ballymoney Borough Council in association with the Bank of Ireland is pleased to announce the penultimate walk in this summer’s Countryside Walks Programme.

Gruig Wind Farm Walk is new to the Programme and takes place on Thursday 11 August. This 5.5 mile guided walk will allow participants the opportunity to visit Gruig Wind Farm, comprising ten turbines.

Full planning permission for the wind farm was received in July 2007, and the wind farm was constructed between November 2007 and April 2009. The project is owned by BNP Paribas Clean Energy Partners GP Ltd and managed/maintained on their behalf by RES UK & Ireland-Ltd and B9 Energy O&M Ltd.

Join staff members for a tour of the wind farm to find out about the development of the project and about the management and operation involved in the production of renewable energy. The walk starts and finishes at Altnahinch Dam Car Park and there is a 1.2 mile on- road walk to access the site.

Walkers must bring warm, waterproof clothing and wear comfortable footwear.
