Having heard that there was no plan for a tree this year, ‘The Half Nine Club’ decided to do something about it.

The Club of men of various ages, who meet in Cullybackey six nights a week for a chat and a bit of craic over a cuppa, were quick to act, sorting out the necessary transport, cranes and lights etc. to turn their festive plan into a reality.

And, on a very wet, cold Saturday morning they gathered in the village to erect the tree and were delighted that everything went to plan.

A spokesperson for the Club said: “The Half Nine Club would just like to take this opportunity to say a big ‘Thank You’ to all in the local business community who helped in any way at all - without your help it would have been a larger task. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the people of Cullybackey!”
