Healthy body, healthy mind...

NORTH Coast Integrated College hosted a health and well being fair last week.

The organisation of this event was a collaborative effort between the North Coast Integrated College and Coleraine Borough Council.

Leigh-Anne Hickinson and Sasha Brownlow, from the organising committee explained: “We are extremely pleased to be once again hosting this innovative and exciting event which has brought local and regional services and businesses that impact on Health and Well Being together to help provide young people develop an understanding of not only what impacts on their health but also what support and advice there is available for them.”

Over 250 pupils, including students from Coleraine College, Coleraine High School and St Josephs benefited from advice and information from over 15 exhibitors, ranging from the smoking cessation nurse and drugs and alcohol awareness.

Local businesses and local support services attending the event included Coleraine Leisure Centre, the PSNI and Coleraine Borough Council’s Health and Well-being service.

First 4 Fruit and Scott’s Fruit and Vegetables kindly sponsored the smoothie stand which was an instant hit with the pupils.

Mr Jim Frizelle, Principal of North Coast Integrated College, who hosted the event said, “We were delighted to have another opportunity to host this Health Fair.

“ The previous events have been such worthwhile events where young people could avail of such practical and helpful advice. The success of the Health Fair confirms the importance of facilitating such an event on a yearly basis.

“ North Coast Integrated College is committed to Community partnership and we are very keen to continue to develop such partnership opportunities in the future.”

A pupil at North Coast Integrated College described the event as “an informative and valuable experience” which provided an in-depth insight into all aspects of living a healthy lifestyle.
