Healthy dates at Ballymena North are announced

DUNCLUG Partnership say they’re delighted to have teamed up with Action Cancer to provide health services for all in Ballymena.

The first event - entitled Action Man - is to be held on Wednesday, December 7, in the Ballymena North Business and Recreation Centre Cushendall Road Ballymena from 12.30 to 8p.m.

It’s a free service being provided to males aged 16 and over.

No appointments are necessary you just call up on the day.

A full M.O.T will be given to each male to include checks on cholesterol, blood pressure, lung capacity, skin scanning body composition analysis and lifestyle assessment. Weight loss advice will also be given as will men’s cancer awareness sessions and smoking cessation will also be a topic for those wanting to give up smoking.

Action Cancer are taking this event to five locations throughout N.Ireland and Ballymena is fortunate to have been chosen as one of those locations. All the help and advice is free on the day and free tea/coffee will also be available.

Colum Best of Dunclug Partnership said he hopes many males avail of this free service and suggests that all sports clubs should encourage members to come along on the day and have health checks carried out.

Also, the Action Cancer Big Bus is on its way to the Ballymena north area.

The Dunclug Partnership has announced that it will be in Dunvale at the car park outside the Coop on Tuesday, December 13 from 10am-3.30pm.

Normal Big Bus Services will be available including Breast screening–Mammography for females aged between 40 to 49 and those over 70.

M.O.T Health checks for male and females 16 plus years and body composition analysis.

This Big Bus service is entirely free and Dunclug partnership are grateful to North Antrim Community Network for the funding to enable the Big Bus to be present in Dunvale.

Appointments for the Big Bus are necessary and are on a first come first served basis by telephoning 02890 803344.
