History at the end of a text

THE Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) has launched a new text service to help people meet some of County Antrim’s most colourful and interesting characters in history.

The agency has a number of events running throughout the summer at Dunluce and Carrick castles.

Anyone interested in archery at Carrick Castle or meeting the residents of medieval Dunluce should text ‘DAYSOUTNI’ to 66101.

They will then receive instant information on all the events taking place over the summer.

Eileen Curry, marketing manager at the Department of Environment explained: “There are a host of events across Northern Ireland to attract people of all ages and interests.

“In Co Antrim, during July and August, living history events are taking place at Dunluce and Carrickfergus Castles.

“By texting DAYSOUTNI to 66101, people will get free timely updates on all NIEA events and places to visit.

You can see what Carrickfergus Castle was like in medieval times on July 22.

On August 4, 12, 19 and 26 people can experience war in the 20th Century at Carrick Castle.

And you can try your hand at archery on August 27.
