Hospital issues raised at healthcare roadshow

THE plight of Causeway Hospital was just one of the issues raised at a Patient and Client Council roadshow in the Sandel Centre, Coleraine.

Patients, service users and carers from the Northern Trust area, took this opportunity to put their questions on ‘Transforming Your Care’ to a panel of decision makers and leaders responsible for health and social care in the local community.

Jackie McNeill, Patient and Client Council’s Northern Area Manager said: “We were delighted that so many people supported our Coleraine Roadshow and came along and raised their concerns on many local Health and Social Care issues with the panel.

“The plans for Accident and Emergency and maternity departments at the Causeway Hospital, transport issues for those with learning disabilities and the future of residential and nursing homes were among many topics discussed.

“We would especially like to thank all the service users and carers who attended and of course the panel of Mr Sean Donaghy, Dr Brian Hunter and Mr John Compton who answered all the questions put to them on Transforming Your Care”

Jackie added: “We would really encourage local people to join the Patient and Client Council’s membership scheme and then we can keep you updated on Transforming Your Care and other healthcare issues on a regular basis.

“We want to ensure your voice is heard and we will seek your opinions on healthcare and social care in your local communities. To join contact Matthew on 0800 917 0222 or you can sign up on our website.”
