Hot stuff – public glass blowing demonstrations at Flowerfield on Saturday

FLOWERFIELD Arts Centre offers a week of hot glass opportunities – culminating in a day of public demonstrations of glass blowing on Saturday, April 20, from 11am to 3pm.

Throughout the week, a series of Hot Glass Workshops and events are taking place as the award-winning centre, funded by The Garfield Weston Trust, the University of Ulster and Causeway Coast Arts

These will provide University of Ulster students with an opportunity for a hands-on introduction to both ‘Lamp Working’ and ‘Glass Blowing’ techniques.

In addition, 5th and 6th form pupils from all schools in Moyle, Limavady, Ballymoney and Coleraine Council areas with an interest in an art college further education can gain an insight into an arts career, both from the perspective of the artists and students. Informal viewing will also be available.

The Tuesday to Friday workshops will be offered to University of Ulster students (for participation) and Sixth Form pupils (for viewing), but on Saturday April 20 from 11am to 3pm, the glass studio will be open for a day of public Glass Blowing Demonstrations, with Scott Benefield (pictured above) and Catherine Keenan.
