Iconic styles take centre stage at NRC

HAIRDRESSING students from the Northern Regional College’s Newtownabbey Campus showcased their work at a recent competition entitled ‘Iconic Styles Through the Ages’.

The competition brought together more than 30 students who are all studying for a Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing. They spent several weeks designing mood boards, selecting hairstyles and preparing their fantastic creations for the competition.

Each student had the opportunity to work alongside a Beauty Therapy student who complemented their model by adding some fabulous make-up to their creation.

Organised by the Hairdressing Department at the college, NRC Course Co-ordinator Fran Mallon stated: “The competition showcased the students’ work across a range of different categories. It was an exciting event with a wonderful theme which provided the opportunity for the students to incorporate glamour and glitz into the competition. There were some fabulous creations in hair design and our judge Marie Stafford from Denman International was amazed at the level of skills the students demonstrated.”

The winner was Alanna Evans, with model Jodie Craig, for her creation of ‘The London Look’. Second place went to student Chloe Hamilton, with model Haley Beattie, for ‘Queen of Hearts’, and third place was awarded to Shannon Stewart, with model Shauneen Quinn, for her ‘Planet Love’ entry. The winners were presented with hampers courtesy of Denman International.
