I’m half the size I used to be

A WOMAN who lost 10 stone after years of pretending she was happy being overweight has spoken of her joy at halving her size.

Kaaron Coates joined Bernie Walsh’s Weightwatcher’s Class and is now a happy size 12.

Here is Kaaron’s experience in her own words: “I’ve struggled with my weight all my life, up and down but never quite getting there. I even pretended I was happy the way I was and said if people didn’t like me the way I was then tough! But enough was enough and when I ballooned to a size 24 that was it. Deep down I knew I wasn’t happy. I have always loved fashion and used to look at slim people and thought ‘I wish that was me’.

I had been to Weight Watchers before and knew it worked. It was me who always gave up even though my leader tried her best to keep me motivated. Now I know what she means when she says losing weight starts in your head. When I returned I had my head sorted. Nothing was going to stop me this time, not holidays, Christmas or nights out.

I had made up my mind that I was going to follow the programme and not try to cheat because, at the end of the day you only cheat yourself. I always went to class and found listening to others really helped. There were always hints and tips and lots of information on foods. We also always ended up having a laugh which made us all leave class in good form. The more weight I lost, the more I worked at it. I had always said I hated exercise but took on board that I needed to do some. I made myself start and found that I actually enjoyed it and have now built it up to nine hours a week and really miss it if I don’t get. I feel better after a workout, it gives me a real buzz. I no longer crave the junk food I would have gorged on but I do love my food. I have meals out and have my chocolate desserts but you know what they say ‘ a little of what you fancy does you good’ but now, thanks to Weight Watchers I know when to stop!

After 18 months attending class I was 10 stone lighter and am half the size I used to be. I can shop in any shop now that I am a size 12 - the last time I was size 12 I was 12 years old!

I reached my goal and have kept it off - at last after years of trying I achieved what I always wanted but, best of all, this is me for the rest of my life.”
