Jamie completes Great North Run

AN Articlave man would like to thank everyone who sponsored him to take part in the Great North Run.

Jamie Dunn (22), a mechanic decided to take part in the gruelling half marathon after he had a conversation with his workmates about the run.

Not afraid of the challenge Jamie began training for the 13.1 mile run and completed it in just under two hours.

“We were chatting in work one day and I just decided I would go for it,” admitted Jamie.

“ I didn’t do that much training to be honest.

“I play football for Portrush so I pushed myself at football and in the last few weeks before the race I upped by running and I completed it with no problems. To be honest I think I could have completed it in a better time. I finished in one hour 57 minutes.

“The start was so packed with runners it took a bit of time to actually get to the start line.

Jamie selected children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent as his charity and he managed to raise £650.

“It was a great weekend and I was delighted to raise so much for the charity.”
