Like so many of us, the chairman of Portrush and Portstewart RNLI fundraising committee John Martin is suffering from ‘lockdown locks’.

The chairman’s need of a barber prompted his fellow committee member Chris Irwin to set up a Just Giving page under the name of ‘Chaircut’ and John has bravely agreed to have his hair cut to raise money for the RNLI

John has also valiantly agreed to the tongue-in-cheek rules which state that the length of his hair will directly correspond to the amount of money raised eg £200 = No10 cut through to £1,000 + = No1 cut.

The haircut will take place outside the RNLI Portrush Lifeboat House at 3pm this Sunday (September 6). Overseeing matters will be Raft Race compere Brian Moore with local media personality Sarah Travers making the first socially distanced cut. “I have never cut anyone’s hair in my life so I’m a lot more nervous about doing this than many of the tasks I’ve faced,” Sarah said.  Local hairdresser Nico will then complete the task. To donate go to Just Giving and search for ‘Chaircut.
