Johnny Brady is living his musical dreams!

When it comes to the Irish country music scene Johnny Brady is still considered the new kid on the block.

Having only been performing professionally on the scene for two years he has quickly shot to fame and is now one of Northern Ireland’s most sought after acts.

The singer from Randalstown is already performing up and down the country five nights a week and has a string of successful songs hitched firmly under his belt.

Having grown up in a family where country music was huge it was inevitable that Johnny would gain a huge appreciation and talent for performing. In fact his grandfather was an uncle of the well known singer Big’ Tom McBride.

“I grew up listening to country music” said Johnny.

“When I was young we spent many nights at the Big Log Cabin as we called it where many many country songs were sung.

“One of my favourite memories as a child was collecting the empty bottles and being paid a bottle of Coke, bag of crisps and £5 for doing it by Big Tom himself.”

In 2012 Johnny broke onto the scene with his debut album Living On My Dreams and his first single Mr Mom was an instant hit.

It wasn’t long before he became an overnight success and just a year later in April 2013 he released the self penned single I Owe It All To You written in memory of his late grandfather James Brady.

The single was also the title track of his hotly anticipated second album which featured seven singles, which included the summer Irish country anthem Chicken Fried which has already racked up over 107,000 YouTube views to date. This album also included some traditional Irish country favourites like Wings Of A Dove and Pass Me By.

Already 2014 has been a busy year for Johnny and with a full tour schedule, single promotion and a new album on the way critics are hailing him as “the next big thing” on the scene.

He said: “Myself and the band are back in the studio working on the third album which is due to be released this summer. We’ve already released two of the singles I Want Crazy and Have We Reached The Bottom Yet which was written by Sean and Tommy Moran. For this album we have enlisted the two producers of the first two albums, Jonathan Owens and Matt Curran and it is a pleasure to be working with them again.”

And once again Johnny has written for the album himself with four originals set to be recorded.

For Johnny performing live, recording and having the chance to write his own music is something he’s always dreamed of and the singer says he’s taking nothing for granted.

He added: “It’s a dream come true to get the chance to work with so many professional musicians and artists in the country music business.

“I am very excited at what the future holds. I’m overwhelmed at the support I’ve received since I went out on the road, I’ve made some life-long friends and I am very lucky to get this chance to tour and perform.

“There is no better feeling than to watch all the Country music fans come out in their droves of all ages and enjoy themselves at our shows it really does make my job so worthwhile.”
