Lidl shoppers win supermarket sweep

The new Lidl in Portrush was a hive of activity on Saturday 21 July when four lucky locals won a chance to take part in a three minute trolley dash around the store!

The shoppers had their names plucked out of a draw after they spent £50 in the new Lidl store in the first few days of opening.

The new store, which opened at 55 Glenmanus Road on July 5th, had a range of activities in the opening days to welcome all the new shoppers. Anyone who spent over £50 got to spin ‘The Lidl Wheel of Fortune’ and if they landed on a black segment they were entered in a draw to win one of four trolley dashes.

The four lucky locals picked out of the draw were Lyndsey Gibson, Russell Graham and Caroline Aurther. The fourth winner, Mrs Callaghan is on holidays and will do her trolley dash on Saturday 28 July.

Lyndsey was one of the lucky winners and speaking about the experience she said: “All of us were delighted to get the chance to pick up some great products from the new store. It was very exciting!”

All the winners came away with substantial amounts each – ranging from £130 to £170.

Speaking on behalf of Lidl Northern Ireland Caitriona Maguire said: “We wanted something a bit different and unique to celebrate our brand new store in Portrush and what better than a trolley dash where our shoppers could take away some great shopping for free!

“We would like to congratulate the winners and thank all the local shoppers for their support and well wishes during our opening phase.”
