Lisburn bands ready to battle

SUMMER is here and so is Lisburn’s ‘Battle of the Bands’ extravaganza, brought to you by Mollys Parlour and Rebellious ways, working in conjunction with Distil, who have kindly opened their doors to a wealth of local musicians eager to make a name for themselves.

Sixteen bands and acoustic acts will battle it out to see who will be crowned the winner and walk away with £250 cash, £100 Music Galleria voucher and one free day recording at Railway Recording Studio (Graham Gardens). The second heat kicks off on Wednesday August 1 at 9pm with competitions throughout the night.

The first band on is ‘If 6 were 9’, a group of enthusiastic musicians who met at a school talent show and decided to start a band together. They are a young outfit from Lisburn looking to make a name for themselves.

Then the Indie inspired Marty Thompson with his selection of ballad originals and popular covers. Third up is Ethan Hanna with his insightful melodies and meaningful lyrics who has recently formed Americana rock outfit called Astronaut Alone. The final contender is ‘Futurescope’, which is the brainchild of songwriter, pianist and producer Niall Hills. Since starting in 2010 they have risen to the top of the electronic scene in Northern Ireland with radio play on BBC ATL, ATL Dance, RTE Pulse and many more. Compared to Daft Punk and Sigur Ros these guys are set to add an exciting element to the competition.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to ‘make your voice heard’! Doors open at 8pm, show at 9pm and door tax is £4.50.
