Local farm prepares for Open Farm weekend

Hillstown Farm and Shop, Glebe Road, Randalstown will be opening its doors to the public on Saturday as part of Open Farm Weekend.

The farm has been in the Logan family for four generations and supplies beef, sheep and rare breed pigs to the public through their fantastic farm shop.

Hillstown was kept very busy last year, with approximately 800 to 1000 visitors and one of their main attractions was the first ever Hillstown Humdinger eating challenge! Last year hungry farm visitors were challenged to eat a 32oz burger – The Hillstown Humdinger but farmer Nigel Logan has decided that this was just too easy.

Nigel said: “This year the Hillstown Humdinger is a monster! We have created a 52oz burger with everything on it and we mean everything! Cheese, ham, bacon, eggs – it’s a beast! I’m sure there are a few local boys who fancy their luck after defeating the Humdinger last year but you’d need to have a serious appetite to beat this year’s challenge in one sitting!”

As well as the now famous eating challenge, Hillstown Farm has a wide range of animals available to meet on either Friday, June 14 or Saturday, June 15 of June including cows, sheep, pigs, turkeys and llamas.

Nigel and the team at Hillstown are busy planning a fun-filled event with food from the shop available to sample and buy on the day as well as a host of fun activities for the whole family.

The farm can be found on the main road from Randalstown to Ahoghill.
