On Thursday there will be an all-day family fun day with plenty of opportunities to win some brilliant raffle prizes and purchase some delicious pieces of cake, with all proceeds raised going towards Children in Need 2014.

Staff will be donning their best onesies in place of their usual staff uniforms and will be paying £1 each towards the store’s overall Children in Need 2014 fundraising total.

There will be a face painter and balloon modeller available on the day from 3:00pm until 7:00pm for the children and there will be the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to be in with a chance of winning one of two pairs of designer glasses.

Children will be invited to guess the number of sweets in a jar for a simple charge of 50 pence per guess, with the winner being announced the following day.

Adults and children alike will be invited to guess the name of the teddy bear – a large Pudsey Bear - for a cost of £1 per guess. All proceeds raised on the day will be donated directly to Children in Need 2014.

Store director, Davin Quinn, said: ‘We have chosen to raise money for this particular charity as we wanted to do something different this year. BBC Children in Need is very well known, however, I think people often see it as something that happens one day a year.

‘We know that isn’t the case, and that the organisation works tirelessly all year round to make a difference to the lives of children across the UK.

‘The family fun day is shaping up to be a great day and we would like to invite as many people to call and visit the Antrim Specsavers store on Thursday and help us to raise as much money as possible. Even Pudsey the Bear will be on hand to meet and greet the children and their parents.’

Children in Need has been chosen as the store’s charity choice for 2014 and all funds raised during 2014 will go towards helping the charity provide grants to projects in the UK which focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged as well as supporting small and large organisations which empower children and extend their life choices.
