Cara McCloskey will be joining with her uncle concert promoter and musician James McGarrity for a charity fundraiser on Saturday, May 23.

James said: “With us all now in isolation and no immediate plans for it to change in the near future, a few well known local entertainers have got together to perform online every few weeks with the help of technology and it is certainly proving to be hugely popular with music lovers near and far.

“So far we have done three live shows on Facebook which consists of myself and my good friend and country music singer Joe Moore linking up via Zoom and playing requests from live viewers. The first show we had 300 tuned in and it has built from there with last week up on 600 tuned in at any one time with the video now reaching over 14,000 hits in a matter of days.

“Requests have been flocking in from America, Australia, Denmark and all over the UK and Ireland and it is great to be able to bring some enjoyment to people in what is a very difficult time with the on-going Covid 19 situation.

“Last week my niece Cara McCloskey who lives in Ballycastle joined us via Facetime for a few songs and did fantastic renditions of popular songs Caledonia and The Green Glens of Antrim and the feedback on social media to her performances have been remarkable.

“Our next Lockdown Live show will be on Saturday, May 23 and we will be tying in with the Skip Car Crew based in Armagh and will raise money during the show for Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Southern Area Hospice.”
