It’s free and confidential and callers will be assisted at every stage in the process by a Benefit Adviser.

‘Make the Call’ and find out what you could be entitled to: People have been missing out for a variety of reasons - it could be that you don’t think you’re eligible, feel you’ve enough to get by on or a recent change in your circumstances means you are now entitled to help.

You may be caring for someone - a relative, a friend or a neighbour who needs support because of their age, illness or disability.

You may be ill yourself, injured or living with a disability.

Older people, working adults and families may also be entitled to benefits, support or services.

One example of people who benefited from ‘Making the Call’ is a couple in their 80s who both have some health problems and care for one another.

They were struggling to pay their household bills.

They were already receiving a number of benefits including Pension Credit and Attendance Allowance and didn’t think they would be entitled to more.

Thanks to an assessment by a Benefit Adviser the husband’s Pension Credit increased by £190.60 a week and he now receives £81.30 a week in Attendance Allowance.

The couple were also entitled to Carer’s Allowance for looking after each other. By making that one phone call, an extra £271.90 every week is going into their household.

Another example is a widow in her 50s who is living with a disability and who made the call.

Her husband was the breadwinner and had some savings before he died. She was awarded Bereavement Benefit for one year after his death. Once that stopped she had been living off those savings and was finding it hard to make ends meet so she made the call and had a benefit check. A Benefit Adviser assessed her circumstances and found she was potentially entitled to Disability Living Allowance to help with her mobility and care needs. The Adviser helped with the application forms and now that woman who ‘made the call’ is better off by £105.90 each week.

Whatever your situation, it’s easy to ‘Make the Call’.
