Margaret’s inspirational first book hits the shelves with charity in mind

A LARNE author whose debut book was published on Amazon’s Kindle service earlier this year is delighted to announce that the book is now also available in paperback.

In June, Margaret Ferguson launched her first book, “Once Upon Yesterday”, which chronicles her often harrowing journey through breast cancer.

The book, written in both poetry and prose, begins with the shattering news of her diagnosis. Margaret then goes on to write movingly about her mastectomy and aftercare in hospital. Finally, she talks poignantly about the bittersweet process of recovery and re-adjustment.

“Once Upon Yesterday” was conceived as a way of helping others, who might, one day, have to battle this dreadful disease.

“Writing this book has been, in a way, therapeutic, in that it has enabled me to piece my thoughts together, and in so doing has helped me come to terms with my demons. But, beyond myself, there was the desire to, in some small way, help other people who may be going through the same ordeal,” she said.

But the main purpose of the book is to raise as much money as possible for charity, and all proceeds of “Once Upon Yesterday” will be donated to Action Cancer, an organisation devoted to saving lives and supporting people in Northern Ireland.

“Once Upon Yesterday” is available from The Booknook, Apsleys, McIlwaine’s Gallery and the Tommy Workman Gallery, price £4.99. Alternatively, a copy can be purchased by contacting Margaret on 02828267085 or Lucy on 02828267071 or 07547132396.
