McKillop: Glens Youth Club ‘an example of an excellent partnership’

SDLP Councillor Margaret Anne McKillop has hailed the Glens Youth Club as an example of an “excellent partnership” involving the Rural Development Programme (RDP), Moyle District Council and, in particular, the local Ruairi Og’s GAC Club, which donated £10,000 towards the project.

Cllr McKillop attended the official opening of the Glens Youth Club at the weekend with SDLP colleagues, Cllr Roisin Loftus and Chairman of Moyle Council, Cllr Donal Cunningham.

Cllr McKillop said: “The local communities of Cushendall, Cushendun and Waterfoot have a facility which any rural community can be proud of. The transformation of this building into a modern facility to serve the needs of our young people is highly commendable and an investment in the future.

“As an elected representative for the area, I pledge to ensure this facility will be a focal point for all our young people and I will give it all my support to develop the services it wishes to offer our young people.

“The Glens has a rich history as a welcoming place and a capacity to acknowledge the richness of diversity. The new centre will, I have no doubt, act as a beacon of hope for a future which is all-embracing and inclusive with a vision for a future which will serve our young people who are well up to the challenges ahead for them in their adult life.”
