Monkstown School days

THIS week we take a stroll down memory lane at Monkstown Community School.

First opened in 1976 by Lord Peter Melchett, the then Minister for Education, it boasted the youngest ever head teacher.

Principal Raymond King was 39 years old when he was appointed and continued in the post until 1999.

He was succeeded by Dennis Harvey who held the position until 2011 and Nigel Pell-Ilderton currently holds the office at the Bridge Road school.
