MP prepares for Christmas sit outs

UPPER Bann MP David Simpson is set once again to sit out at Christmas in support of local causes.

Tomorrow (Friday) he will stage his sit out in Lurgan on behalf of Ceara School while on Saturday, December 22 he will move to in Portadown on behalf of Alzheimer’s Society. He has already staged a similar sit out in Banbridge earlier this month.

He said: “My annual Christmas sit outs are among the most enjoyable of any of the things that I get to do as a Member of Parliament.

“They allow me to meet with people from all kinds of backgrounds and I enjoy the banter even if I do end up getting tackled about all kinds of issues. But it is also an opportunity to once again witness the people of Upper Bann at their best, as they give to others.

“Each and every year of my sit outs I have been genuinely touched by the response of the people of Upper Bann. Every year without fail in Banbridge, Lurgan and Portadown, people form right across the community divide, older people who have very little themselves and young people who stop to take the time to think of others, have all given so much and have shown the warmth and generosity that characterises our people.

“This is a time of year when despite all of the difficulties of everyday life, the thoughts of people still turn to others and I have no doubt that the people of Upper Bann will yet again rise to the challenge.”
