The society chose the cancer charity as the recipient of their fundraising after the untimely death of one of their dear members, Charlotte Cameron.

Charlotte’s family requested that the money raised might be donated to Marie Curie, so in her memory, Lurgan Musical
Society welcomed Charlotte’s daughter, Helen, to present the cheque to Marie Curie.

The summer concert on Friday, June 6 was a huge success and was a fitting tribute to Charlotte who had been a dedicated and enthusiastic member of Lurgan Musical Society for many years.

Lurgan Town Hall was filled to capacity and the audience was treated to a wonderful evening of song and dance.

The choir sang some beautiful songs from the world of the musical, past and present, some sacred and reflective songs as well as music written and performed during World War I.

£565 was raised during the concert and in addition, after a recent concert for Lurgan Bowling Club, the Society received a £300 cheque which was to be given to their chosen cause after their June concert.
