NI 100 Creative Arts Competition winners

Organised by the Good Relations team, the public were asked to share their love for the stunning landscapes, natural beauty and the meaning of family in this part of Northern Ireland that we are privileged to call home.

Thanking everyone who entered, Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Alderman Mark Fielding said: “It was a delight to see the array of entries to our creative arts competition and I was particularly impressed by the wide variety of pieces we received.

“The range, standard and quality of work made it a hard decision for the panel to choose the overall winners across our four categories and I hope everyone takes the opportunity to view our online exhibition for themselves.

“Through our NI 100 programme we want to showcase everything that makes the Borough such a special place and this competition allowed our residents to express this for themselves across through creativity.”

The winners are:

Best Painting/Drawing: 1st prize, Portrush Harbour, by Olivia Walker; 2nd Prize, Dunluce Castle, by Fionnuala McNicholl.

Best Poem/Written Piece: 1st Prize, Where the heart Will Sing, by Fionnuala McNicholl ; 2nd Prize – The Roe Valley, by Mairead McNulty

Most Creative: 1st Prize, Dark Hedges, Material Work by Tina Burke; 2nd Prize, Memories of long ago – Story and painting of Ballintoy Harbour by Tracy Courtney

Most Original: 1st Prize - Daffodil Breeding by Derek Turbitt; 2nd Prize - Duet/Family Painting by Hazel Patterson

Those selected in first and second place received a Causeway Coast and Glens Gift Card. All entries will be showcased this month in an online exhibition via Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre.
