Nostalgic look back at yesteryear

After the Apologies were read, adopted and signed, the Treasurer, Molly Wilson, gave her Report.

The Annual Outing will be on June 9 to Coleraine, with dinner at the Lodge Hotel.

Members attending the Craft Classes then displayed their mosaics, and a presentation certificate made and framed by Margaret Robertson was handed over to Winnie Chamberlain for her long service.

Seated around beautifully adorned tables, members enjoyed their Posh Tea Party with all the usual goodies - provided by the Committee and served by Ethel Crockett.

Finally, the Speaker, Thompson Steele, was introduced, who rounded off an enjoyable afternoon with tales of yesteryear. From the Titanic to the Opening of Stormont in 1932, Thompson was an informative and witty speaker, combining facts with accompanying guitar playing and song.

At Molly Wilson’s special request, Thompson rounded off his repertoire with the Titanic song, particularly appropriate for this Titanic Centenary Year.

Margaret Robertson thanked the Speaker for sharing with the Guild and for lifting members’ spirits with his chat and song, and the Guild then showed their appreciation.

The Chairman reminded members of the June outing and wished everyone a safe journey home.
